Facebook

I always refused to get a Facebook or Myspace page. I thought it was for HS and college aged people. That and I just didn't care about it. It was about 2 months ago I got an email from my cousin. She said that someone she was "friends" with on Facebook who I had gone to HS with had my prom pictures plus other HS pictures posted on her Facebook page.

SO I finally broke down and joined only because I was so nosey!! As of today I have 49 "friends" most of which are people I wouldn't recognize from HS! I do have to say that it has been nice to connect with some cousins I have lost touch with, but I really don't care about the majority of the HS people. Some of them never left HS in their minds... definitely their Glory Days.

Today I got a "friend request". Yes, this was someone from HS. We'll call him Butter. So, I dated Butter the first month I started HS. He was my boyfriend for about 2 weeks. (I think his best friend was my next boyfriend, also for 2 weeks. That's a story for another day!)

Butter and I stayed friends until I was out of HS, even though he moved to another town. I remember he sent me gave me a "love note" when I was 14 or 15. I don't remember much of the note, but I do remember one very specific line in this oh so romantic love note. He said, "When I look into your eyes, I melt inside like a chunk of butter in a microwave." Nice, huh? Now you see why its Butter??? :)

Back in HS, Butter was all 80's, complete with his mullet spiked on the top. I remember he was into WWF to a whole different level!!! I don't think much has changed.

Maybe 8 or so years ago my mom called me. She said, "I know your phone number is unlisted so I won't give it out, but you got a phone call here. I have a message for you and you are never going to believe who called! Butter called! Do you remember him?" (you have to love mother's! No mom! I don't remember a guy I was friends with for 5 years!) She gave me his phone number. After a phone call, we ended up getting together for dinner one night. It was still 1988, complete with the mullet spiked on top! He told me how he still went to WWF events and even collected championship belts!!!

Butter didn't have any pictures posted on his profile as of yet. I can't wait to see them! I did mention I was nosey, right??? And get this! Under his list of activities, collecting championship belts!! I think I'm right, not much has changed since 1988!

One thing I do like on Facebook is catching up with people I actually do want to talk to. I have reconnected with some old friends and a ton of cousins and it has been fun!! After one cousin asked about our next family reunion, I talked to a different cousin who had planned the last few. That led to her planning the next one for September!! She sent me an email asking me if the date was ok. I don't how I became important in the decision process of this.

Then I started talking to another cousin. Last year at our family reunion was really the first time her and I talked. We had so much in common and she's so sweet. She found me on Facebook. We're meeting for dinner this week! I am really looking forward to it too. She's a great kid and I think it will be SO much fun!!

I'm still trying to figure out if I like Facebook or not. I do like hearing from some old friends. I guess its good too to be reminded why I'm NOT friends with some people. Found out about that with 2 different people today! Very obviously reminded why I am NOT friends with them. Yet, they are both "friends" of mine of Facebook!

Now its time to go watch Melissa dance on Dancing with the Stars! Yes, I'm addicted to Reality TV! :)
